Overview

Overview

Since August 2025, I have been a Graphic Design & Digital Media Intern for UC Irvine Transportation & Distribution Services, under Creative Director Elizabeth Whitaker. I have designed a variety of projects and media kits from start to finish, engaging an audience of over 65,000 students, family, faculty, and other UC Irvine affiliates.

I have designed a variety of projects and media kits from start to finish, engaging an audience of over 65,000 students, family, faculty, and other UC Irvine affiliates.

One such project was MuseumConnect. As UC Irvine finalized its acquisition of the Orange County Museum of Art in September of 2025, UC Irvine T&DS planned to open a complimentary shuttle to and from the main UC Irvine campus and the museum. I was in charge of designing the print and digital promotional materials for this campaign, including flyers, tabloids, social media posts, website ads, campus TV/kiosk screens, the reservation webpage, and the bus stop sign itself. The goal was to clearly communicate the shuttle schedule, promote the museum destination, and emphasize accessibility.

Early Iterations

We started the project with limited information, as the shuttle details hadn't been finalized from upper management yet. So, for the wireframes, I focused on establishing a flexible layout, leaving space for a hero image and other photos/graphics to draw the attention of the viewer. I also incorporated hints of UC Irvine's blue and gold color palette to maintain brand alignment.

In my next iterations, I explored ways to create a more dynamic composition by exaggerating the large, overlapping circular elements. Once the photography team provided the official photos, I refined the layout to better highlight the visuals without overshadowing the text. In order to show more of the image, I relocated the text beneath the image of the shuttle, using circular shape language. I also explored different font ideas, eventually settling on a more stylized yet highly legible typeface, New Athletic M54 Regular, to enhance visual identity.

Refining the Design

In the final design, I further refined the visual hierarchy and clarity of information. I developed and integrated the new program name, "MuseumConnect," into a finalized logo, along with its official subtitle. I moved this title and subtitle to the top of the page to follow natural reading order, and added a gradient behind it to make the text stand out above the image. I also restructured the body content into three distinct bullets, and emphasized the reservation link for visibility.

To strengthen the promotional focus, I scaled the image of the museum as the dominant visual element, ensuring that viewers would immediately understand where the destination would be. I removed the background from the shuttle image and allowed it to extend beyond the circular frame, adding depth and creating a more engaging, dynamic composition that truly "pops."

With repeated iteration over the course of one month, I was able to craft a full marketing campaign of digital and print assets that truly represented the vision of both the UC Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art, as well as UC Irvine Transportation. The finalized marketing campaign can be seen below.
